Traceabliity Performance Assessment

Ensure Your Recall Protocol and Team Are Effectively Prepared for a Recall
Inspection & Consulting

Are you truly testing your team and written traceability/recall plan when you conduct mock recalls? Many companies simply test traceability of a finished product to the first point of distribution. This leaves gaps in testing your entire system and gaps in the knowledge and preparedness of your recall team. Our food safety professional will conduct a timed traceability response exercise that evaluates employee practices, understanding of responsibilities, and documentation tracking.

A Traceability Performance Assessment can be added to any GMP inspection as an addendum or can be delivered as a virtual assessment to confirm the effectiveness of your facility’s traceability program and identify gaps in its application and execution.

Get a Deep Dive into Your Traceability and Recall Capabilities

Upon completion of the Traceability Performance Assessment, AIB International will provide a detailed report that includes a program review and suggested corrective actions for a more effective traceability performance.

  • Intense detailed evaluation
  • Real-world practical traceability/recall exercise
  • Recall team preparedness challenge
  • Identification of opportunities for corrective actions

Any facility that relies on traceability for food safety, regulatory compliance, or quality control should consider this assessment, especially if they want to strengthen their ability to handle recalls effectively.

Inadequate Recall Preparedness
If a company is uncertain about the effectiveness of their recall protocols or has concerns about the speed and accuracy with which their recall team can respond during an actual event, this assessment will help identify and address weaknesses.

Incomplete Traceability Testing
Businesses that only trace finished products to the first point of distribution might be overlooking gaps in their system, risking incomplete traceability across the supply chain.

Documentation Gaps
Companies experiencing inconsistencies or weaknesses in their traceability documentation, or those wanting to ensure their records are reliable, would benefit from this assessment to verify that all necessary information is being accurately recorded and maintained.

  • Assess your written traceability/recall plan
  • Evaluate your documentation reliability
  • Test your recall team performance
  • Identify and correct gaps

How the Process Works

Our food safety professional will conduct a real-time trace exercise during the course of the audit and provide a deep dive into a site’s performance and recall team member expertise. Multiple sites can participate in the same exercise.

  • We meet with procurement to choose an ingredient used by the sites participating in the exercise.
  • One ingredient lot number is presented to recall teams and a timer for the exercise begins.
  • Recall teams follow their traceability/recall protocols and identify affected products.
  • Teams complete required supporting documentation.
  • Team leaders present findings and provide documentation for evaluation.
  • Meeting includes collaborative identification of program gaps and execution.
  • AIB International provides a report.
