Grant-supported initiative provides eligible food and beverage facilities with customized, expert-led training designed around their specific food safety needs.
MANHATTAN, Kan. — September 16, 2025 — AIB Education & Research is expanding its Food Safety Training Grant Program, an initiative designed to help small and mid-sized food and beverage businesses access customized, expert-led food safety training and technical support.
Through the program, eligible businesses receive grant funding from AIB Education & Research to significantly reduce the cost of a customized training engagement delivered by AIB International experts. The initiative focuses on organizations that may face resource constraints while working to meet increasingly complex food safety expectations.
Unlike traditional classroom training, the program is tailored to the needs of each participating facility. AIB International experts review facility documentation in advance, identify areas where additional support may be beneficial, and develop a customized on-site workshop focused on the organization’s specific challenges and opportunities for improvement.
The program includes a pre-session virtual review, a four-hour customized on-site workshop, and a post-session follow-up to assess training effectiveness and review progress using recommended resources. AIB Education & Research funding covers the program costs for eligible participants, with participating facilities contributing a $500 fee.
The Training Grant Program is designed for eligible small and mid-sized food and beverage manufacturers, including facilities with fewer than 100 employees. To help direct resources toward businesses with limited recent access to AIB services, applicants must not have received AIB training, consulting, or inspections within the previous 12 months.
Expanding Access Beyond the United States
Originally developed to increase access to practical food safety support for smaller operations, the Training Grant Program has expanded internationally throughout 2025 and 2026.
Eligible facilities are currently located in the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines, extending the program’s reach to businesses across North America and Southeast Asia.
This international expansion reflects AIB Education & Research’s broader commitment to reducing barriers to food safety education and helping businesses strengthen their programs regardless of their size or available resources.
By investing directly in small and mid-sized businesses, AIB Education & Research aims to help participating facilities identify and address critical food safety gaps, strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and build capabilities that can support long-term improvement.
