AIB International Certification Services to Offer RSPO Supply Chain Certification
Combining the GFSI and RSPO certifications into one auditing visit will optimize food manufacturers as well as palm oil traders’ resources while demonstrating their commitment to food safety and sustainable palm oil usage. Manhattan, Kan. (March 1, 2023) – AIB International Certifications Services, Inc., dedicated to performing benchmarked Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification audits for the global food supply chain, can now offer Roundtable on Sustainability Palm Oil (RSPO) Supply Chain Certification (SCC) services. The certification service can be offered in any country in the world, except China. Palm oil is probably one of the best-known and most debated ingredients in the food industry. Due to the negative impacts on the environment, wildlife, and human rights, many food companies have been steering away from incorporating unsustainable and traditional industrialized sourced palm oil into their products. As a result, it has become quite common to see the term ‘sustainable palm oil’ in the ingredients of processed goods. “Becoming an approved RSPO Supply Chain certification body was the next natural step for AIB International Certification Services, Inc.,” said Alfonso Capuchino, Vice President of Certification Services. “We will be able to support our food supply chain customer’s sustainability efforts by verifying whether the palm oil they use is produced sustainably without harming the environment and people who live and work in oil palm producing countries,” added Capuchino. The RSPO Supply Chain audit can also be combined with a benchmarked Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) audit process, which optimizes organizations in the food supply chain that take legal ownership of RSPO oil palm products or physically manipulate and/or store RSPO palm oil products while demonstrating their commitment to food safety and sustainable palm oil usage. The RSPO Supply Chain Certification (SCC) standard outlines the auditable requirements used by organizations in the palm oil supply chain that process and trade RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). Certification bodies that offer RSPO certification services are accredited by Assurance Services International (ASI). During 2022, AIB International Certification Services, Inc. worked with ASI to complete the accreditation process, becoming the first certification body audited and accredited by their recently opened office in the United States. “By obtaining an RSPO certificate, organizations in the food supply chain can provide assurance that the products they produce, distribute, or commercialize adhere to the RSPO supply chain certification requirements,” explained Capuchino. “This assurance is becoming increasingly important as customers and consumers keep growing more inquisitive about the environmental and social consequences of purchasing decisions and expecting companies to increase their commitment on sustainability efforts”, said Capuchino. Responding to Current Demand, AIB International Launches New Food Safety and Sanitation Online Course
With this new training program, designed by instructional experts and based on neuroscience principles for adult learning, mid-level managers in the food supply chain can strengthen their knowledge in an easy-to-follow, modular format. Manhattan, Kan. (October 11, 2022) – AIB International, a globally recognized food safety company committed to raising food safety quality standards around the world, has released a new comprehensive and interactive digital course focused on food safety and sanitation, designed by instructional experts and based on neuroscience principles for adult learning. This course is geared towards helping mid-level managers and supervisors in the food supply chain more effectively manage their food safety systems. Due to its unique curriculum and design, participants can select from the 24 modules and complete those relevant to their needs or responsibilities. Globally, companies are struggling with labor shortages, shrinking profit margins, and rising costs as supply chain challenges continue. As a result, current employees are working as hard as they can, plants are unable to train their food safety and sanitation employees quickly enough, and most manufacturers are encountering difficulties while training employees who are unfamiliar with the fundamentals of food safety. “The food industry can ill afford to disregard food safety training and continuous development of the first line of defense, which are the people running the lines and those charged with sanitation. Ongoing education has never been so critical, so we decided to support our customers by providing a modular, easy-to-follow online training. This course covers crucial elements that will assist managers in addressing regulations, reinforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), proactively identifying and resolving microbiological or allergen management concerns, as well as providing sound responses to customer needs," said Steve Robert, Global Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Product Innovation at AIB International. The Food Safety and Sanitation online training includes 24 modules covering a wide variety of topics, from personnel practices, sanitation, and allergens to quality control, customer complaints, food defense, and self-inspection and internal audits, to name a few. Modules were designed to meet the different needs of the food supply chain. Pest control companies can benefit from this training by selecting the eight modules that will provide their personnel with the knowledge needed to support an integrated pest management program in a food facility. Modules in this training can also be used by U.S. manufacturers and those exporting to the U.S. to gain a greater understanding of FDA regulations, industry best practices, and food safety principles, while those interested in other international markets can choose the non-FDA related modules to expand their knowledge of sanitation and food safety. Individuals in different roles within the food supply chain can benefit from this training by selecting the modules that are most relevant to them. No limit is placed on the number of modules an individual can complete. Details related to this training as well as the list of all the available modules can be found here: https://www.aibinternational.com/products/food-safety-and-sanitation-online/ About AIB International For over 100 years, AIB International has been committed to promoting the integrity of the supply chain by raising food safety and quality standards around the world. AIB International Announces the Release of its Updated Consolidated Standards for Inspections
Inspections against this updated version will begin January 1, 2023 Manhattan, Kan. (July 20, 2022) – The globally recognized AIB International Consolidated Standards for Inspections have been updated to incorporate the latest industry best practices, new regulations, and food safety requirements. The updated consolidated standards will be released on July 25, 2022, and inspections against this updated version will begin January 1, 2023. Major updates include moving written programs to the Adequacy section; dividing the Food Safety Programs standard into two separate standards for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC); expanding the Food Defense standard to provide more guidance for a program that can be applied globally; and creating a separate Regulated Food Defense standard to meet the U.S. Intentional Adulteration requirements. “Our Consolidated Standards for Inspections were originally launched in 1956, and they quickly became the global industry standard due to their unique way of integrating, in a user-friendly, easy-to-understand format, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), common regulatory requirements, and food safety practices. There is no other document on the market that provides the type of prescriptive guidance the way we do,” said Steve Robert, Global Vice-President of Sales, Marketing, and Product Innovation at AIB International. AIB International initially developed the Consolidated Standards for Inspections under the title of the Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs for the food industry. We then tailored those standards to meet the requirements for an additional eight different industry segments in the food supply chain. “By doing so, we provide each business sector with only relevant and valuable information related to their specific business,” added Robert. In 2022, as part of AIB International’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of the food supply chain, the company invested time and resources to update five of its Consolidated Standards, including the Consolidated Standards for Prerequisite & Food Safety Programs, Beverage Facilities, Non-Food Contact Packaging Manufacturing Facilities, Food Contact Packaging Manufacturing Facilities, and Food Distribution Centers. The remaining Consolidated Standards will be updated in 2023. As part of the information and educational process, AIB International is holding free webinars in different time zones, private sessions, and general communications. As of July 25, 2022, a free copy of the updated Consolidated Standards for Inspections will be available for download here. Customers interested in participating in our free webinar can register for the North America session (July 28, 11 a.m. CST), the European, Middle East and Africa session (July 25, 11 a.m. BTS), the Asia Pacific session (July 25, 2 p.m. SGT), or the Spanish session for Latin America (July 28, 12 p.m. CDMX). AIB International Debuts Pandemic Prepared Certification for Corporate Offices
AIB International Debuts Pandemic Prepared Certification for Corporate Offices Lesaffre’s Milwaukee Office is First to Achieve Certification by Prioritizing Employee Health, Well-Being Contact: Mark Crouser, mcrouser@aibinternational.com, (816) 582-8839 (Download release: AIB International Lesaffre Achieves Certification To Pandemic Preparedness For Corporate Offices FINAL) Manhattan, Kan. (March 30, 2021) – Lesaffre’s North American Corporate Office in Milwaukee, Wis. is the first location in the world to achieve certification to AIB International’s new Pandemic Prepared Certification for Corporate Offices. Achieving this certification demonstrates that Lesaffre has prioritized employee health, well-being, and safety, which will build employee confidence and support for their return to working in the office. Based on the Pandemic Prepared Certification for Food and Beverage Supply Chains that was launched in July 2020, this new certification is rooted in a clear, actionable, and rigorous standard developed with input from the latest COVID-19 information and industry best practices. As employers prepare to welcome employees back to in-person work in office settings, this independent certification requires that protocols are established to recognize and mitigate COVID-19 risks in these workplaces. “At Lesaffre, there is no higher priority than safety. Taking on this demanding certification demonstrates our commitment to the health and safety of our employees, and our business partners. Through AIB International and their Pandemic Prepared Certification for Corporate Offices standard, we are proud to take a leadership role in this area,” said Tom Benner, President & CEO, Lesaffre. “By achieving this certification, our employees will know that we have elevated critical planning for workplace safety to a best-in-class standard. We believe this will help build their confidence for returning to in-person work, and then help maintain morale once they have returned.” According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, 64 percent of workers would feel uncomfortable returning to the office. For those who work from home even though their workplace is available to them, 57 percent express concern over being exposed to the coronavirus as a major reason for this. After spending the past year working from the comfort and safety of a remote location, it is clear that employees expect a fundamentally safer work experience than the one they left. “Before opening their doors to in-person work, employers should first prove they are prioritizing the health and well-being of their employees by putting a plan in place that mitigates COVID-19 risks at the office,” said Steve Robert, Global Vice-President, Sales/Marketing and Product Innovation, AIB International. “By establishing and maintaining the best practices found in the Pandemic Prepared Certification for Corporate Offices, Lesaffre has successfully demonstrated that they are reducing risks associated with COVID-19. This will create the conditions for their employees to feel safe and empower them to return to in-person work with confidence.” Requirements in the Corporate Offices standard address specific challenges unique to office settings. This includes the top five concerns employees have expressed about returning to the workplace, including Ensuring people entering the office are not sick; Maintaining social distancing; Adequate and frequent cleaning and sanitation; Plans and protocols on quarantining employees if they start to show symptoms; and, Clear employee communication. # # # About Lesaffre® Yeast Corporation and Red Star® Yeast Company Lesaffre Yeast Corporation and Red Star Yeast company are both part of the Lesaffre Group.
